Irving Berlin (Israel Balin; Temun, 1888 – Nueva York, 1989) Compositor estadounidense de origen ruso.

Nacido en el seno de una familia judía, Irving Berlin y sus parientes escaparon de un pogrom cuando él contaba cuatro años de edad y decidieron instalarse en Estados Unidos.

En 1896, año en que murió su padre, Irving Berlin tuvo que ponerse a trabajar cantando por las calles y los bares. Comenzó a ganarse la vida como camarero-cantante en un prestigioso restaurante de Chinatown y aprendió a tocar el piano de forma autodidacta.
